Kaplan, Inc., to Present at the Merrill Lynch Advertising, Publishing & Education Investor Conference

Event to be Webcast Live

WASHINGTON, Feb 21, 2003 -- Kaplan, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO), will make a presentation to the investment community at Merrill Lynch's annual Advertising, Publishing & Education Conference on February 26, 2003. Jonathan Grayer, chairman and chief executive officer of Kaplan, will speak at 12 noon EST. The event will be held at the New York Palace Hotel in New York City.

The presentation will cover Kaplan and its four operating units, Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, Kaplan Professional, Kaplan Higher Education, and SCORE!, including information on the current status and prospects for its education and career services businesses.
