| The Washington Post Company Completes Acquisition of Computer Trade Publications and Shows |

| WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post Company announced
today it has completed the acquisition of "Government Computer
News" and "Reseller Management", two computer industry trade
publications, from a U.S. subsidiary of Reed Elsevier Inc.
In the same transaction, the Post Company acquired the assets of two Washington computer industry trade shows, FOSE and FEDnet/FEDimaging. An agreement for the acquisition of these properties was announced on December 15, 1997. These properties have been merged with existing Post Company publications to form Post-Newsweek Business Information, Inc., based in Vienna, VA, with offices in Silver Spring, MD, and Newton, MA. Post-Newsweek Business Information also publishes "Washington Technology," "Integration Management," and "TechCapital."
