Vijay Ravindran
Senior Vice President
Chief Digital Officer


Vijay Ravindran joined Graham Holdings Company (then The Washington Post Company) as senior vice president and chief digital officer in February 2009. In this role, Ravindran focuses on the Trove incubated business and investments in early stage companies. Ravindran leads the newly re-launched Trove news product and also serves in leadership roles at SocialCode (the leading social advertising agency), Slate, Post–Newsweek Stations and various Company investments.

Previously, as the chief technology officer of the political technology startup Catalist from its inception through the 2008 elections, Ravindran led all the technology aspects of developing the company's software and data products. During the 2008 election cycle, Catalist clients included the Obama for America and Hillary Clinton presidential campaigns.

Prior to Catalist, Ravindran was a technology director at Amazon.com. Ravindran joined Amazon in 1998 as a software engineer and held a variety of engineering and technical management roles. From 2003 to 2005, he led the Ordering group; the department was responsible for consumer purchasing on all Amazon properties. This included the product development and operations for "Shopping Cart," "Checkout," "1-Click" and "Your Account," as well as the initial creation and management of "Amazon Prime." Prior to Amazon, Ravindran was a software developer at American Management Systems in Fairfax, VA, and Dusseldorf, Germany.

Ravindran graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in systems engineering.
