Wallace R. Cooney

Controller, The Washington Post Company

Wallace R. Cooney, controller, joined The Washington Post Company in 2001. From 1997 to 2001, he was director of consolidation accounting and financial reporting at Gannett Co., Inc. Cooney began his career with Price Waterhouse LLP in 1985, where he held increasingly more responsible positions, including a three-year tour-of-duty in The Hague, The Netherlands from 1991 to 1994 and serving as a senior manager from 1994 to 1997.

Cooney graduated from Lafayette College in 1985, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business. He is a certified public accountant and a member of Finance Executives International (FEI) and International Newspapers Financial Executives (INFE).
